Project Details
A local pub at risk of demolition, the building has been retained and reimagined to accommodate 90 children across generous, free-flowing spaces. The layout was purposefully arranged around each classroom having direct access to the outdoors across both levels.
Internally, darker, enclosed areas have been reconfigured with wide circulation and clear sightlines for safeguarding and ease of navigation. Large, linked spaces feature a cohesive colour and material palette, with arched openings and bespoke joinery. Externally, a first-floor terrace and two-level play areas connect classrooms directly to wild play gardens by Heard Landscapes, offering a sense of adventure while avoiding an over-curated feel. The project balances structural reinforcement and planning constraints with playful, light-filled interiors.
