Delve were commissioned for a full refurbishment, side and rear extension to this Victorian house in Nunhead, in the Telegraph Hill Conservation area.

The brief was to design a contemporary refurbishment with a palette of natural, raw materials, whilst celebrating and embracing the existing period features of the property.

A new connection between the front and rear rooms has been created, using birch faced plywood joinery to define the spaces - linking the old and new and creating intrigue as you move through the house.

The new extension to the rear maximises the natural light through bifolding windows and a large structural glass infill. Clad in a black stained Accoya and sat on a boardmarked concrete plinth - the playful form of rear elevation echoes the existing structure and will blend with the extensive greenery of the clients large sun drenched garden.
